Nearly home…

Our second stop in Paris was uneventful. We stayed near a great food street market and went for a walk near Notre Dame again. Saw the bird markets which the kids loved.  Arrived at Singapore to lovely 25 degrees. Dinner at Japanese restaurant then to Gardens By the Bay. Stunning place.  Yesterday went to little India and to vivo mall. Not much shopping done but still time for that!  Went to Night Safari at 7 and got home at 11.30.  Massive thunder and lightning in the night – felt like it hit the building!  Today went to Sentosa Island to … Continue reading Nearly home…

Last day in London – Lucas

Today we woke up at a more normal time, rather than the 10:30 breakfasts we have had for a few days. We caught the London Underground to the Natural history Museum, where we saw heaps of skeletons of animals and replicas of heads. The heads were about Human Evolution. There were around 50 plastic heads. Some had been covered over with realistic skin and hair. We also saw lots of (dead) animals and birds, and even found a Kakapo. When we had finished that, Dad and I went next door to the Medieval and Renaissance section. In there, we found … Continue reading Last day in London – Lucas

London – By Lucas

Today we went to Buckingham Palace and saw the Changing of the Guard. This was really impressive, and we followed the parade down Pall Mall towards the Palace. The Guards look just like they do in pictures. They were in red coats with gold buttons and cuffs. They wore a black busby on their heads. Each guard has a different plume.  You wear a blue plume if you are an Irish guard, no plume for Scottish, and white and green for Welsh. We only saw Irish and Scottish guards. We also went to the Royal mews, where we saw lots … Continue reading London – By Lucas

London by Sarah

Off to a roaring start in London. Arrived at the apartment at 3 pm and have already been on double decker bus, underground, black cab and train.  Seen Buckingham palace – watched cars roar past with incoming and outgoing prime ministers, walked through St James Park and watched the squirrels and seen Big Ben. Had curry for dinner – of course!   Continue reading London by Sarah

Järvsö by Sarah.

We were incredibly lucky to spend 4 nights in Järvsö with Ben’s boss Rob and his family. Anna is Swedish and her family all still live in the area. Their house has been in her family for 500 years. They go there 2-3 times a year to holiday. Ben’s business partner Jamie also went with his wife Rachel and their 3 kids.  9 kids and 6 adults (plus a couple of helpers) made for a relaxing few days.  We spent time out in the boat, in the hot tub, playing on the beach, jumping off the jetty and playing on … Continue reading Järvsö by Sarah.

Stunning Stockholm

We had a long day getting to Stockholm – a 2 hour flight followed by a 1 hour flight ended up being 14 hours door to door! The first flight was late which meant we missed our connection, then had a 6 hour wait till our new flight!   However the fast train (210 km/h) into the city was awesome and Stockholm is just beautiful. It’s very picturesque and idyllic. There’s no mess anywhere and everything is neat and tidy. We commented that it felt like being on a Disney set! We walked around the old town this morning then … Continue reading Stunning Stockholm

Hello Venice! – Lucas

Being our first full day in Venice, we headed straight to Murano. This is pretty much the same as Venice but with less people and tourists. In Murano, we went to heaps of glass shops, and then stumbled upon a glass factory! They were offering a demonstration for €10, so we did it. First the man made a vase. Then he made a horse and, because the glass sets so quickly, he has to make it in 60 seconds flat. Billie got a tiny blue duck from here. She also got a blue mask with a feather out the top. … Continue reading Hello Venice! – Lucas

Venice

Venice is everything I remember and more!  We took a water taxi this morning to Murano, where all the glass is. Stunning pieces of glass art. We watched a vase being made in about 10 minutes, then a small horse (common trinket here) in about 60 seconds! Continue reading Venice
